Elizabeth Lissaman (1901- 1991) - highly sought after early New Zealand potter.
Lissaman held her first exhibition at the 1927 Christchurch Winter Show. In 1965 she was accorded Honorary membership of the NZ Society of Potters.
"In 1990, after nearly 70 years of potting and 11 changes in location, she was to make her last wheel-thrown pots at Crathie Rest Home in Tauranga." (From the Dictionary of New Zealand Biography)
These are from later in her life potted in 1980 (seven of the nine pieces are dated and marked "EHTS" - all 9 pieces hold her potters mark as shown in photo). They are all in good condition - no chips or cracks.
Set consists of six cups, one jug, one sugar bowl and a dish....nine fabulous pieces in total - you are lucky to see one piece of her work at any time ...let alone the opportunity to purchase nine pieces at once.
Colour is a lovely blue with a creamy off white inside.
